Medical Care

All EU Nationals resident in Malta are eligible to receive free medical treatment government-funded hospitals and clinic. The main general hospital is the newly opened state-of-the-art Mater Dei Hospital. All towns and villages have their own medical clinics. In addition to the public health service there are several extremely good private hospitals which not only cater for residents but are increasingly looking at medical tourism.

Belonging to the EU, Malta follows their strict standards in hygiene and food and beverages are strictly monitored. Tap water is safe to drink, but bottled water is widely available. Milk and diary products are safe, as are local meats, seafood, fruit and vegetables
